Particularly dyed cottons and patterned goods of India enjoyed a high reputation in the East and West alike as world fabrics of the Orient because of their brilliance of colors and long lasting qualities, obtained through the use of vegetable dyes drawn from nature's bounty.

India has had a rich cultural heritage from times immemorial. The hand-spun and hand-woven textile industries are probably the oldest and have won acclaim and laurels for India in foreign lands.
